Are you my momma???

So. . . Mac, our dog, has been trained not to bother my chickens. And he does awesome at leaving them alone. But, that said, he chases sparrows and other misc birds, ALL day long and he's allowed to kill them if he catches them! So, imagine his confusion, when two baby birds fall out of one of our trees today, and as soon as he tries to bite one, the girls start screaming and I holler "No!"
He looked at me like "Ummm, what's the problem here? These are supposed to be legal for me to get!"
No problem - we tell him "No Chicks!!" and he understands not to hurt them, cause that's how we trained him to leave the chickens alone. . . What a good dog!!
Then, he's laying down on the grass, and one of the baby birds keeps coming over to him and chirping up at him as if to ask "Are you my momma?" He moves . . . baby bird follows. He finally walked clear across the gravel driveway to get away and the baby bird STILL followed! I tried to get it in pictures. . .  Poor Mac did so good  - he never so much as nipped at it!
