Serendipity

My husband came home at 6:20am this morning, with an early anniversary present for me:
He found her in his trailer this morning, after unloading a bunch of sheep for slaughter! We think she was born enroute to IA from CO yesterday sometime. She is just the sweetest, little, leggy thing you have ever seen! She still has her imbilical cord, so I know she's still pretty new! Her little bleats were so strong though! Beau woke up, saw her, and said "Now that's weird!" Guess he isn't used to waking up to farm animals peeking over the edge of his bed!Since she was pretty dirty and pretty smelly, we decided it was bath time.
And, after lots of SCRUBBING!!! Made her clean as new!
Beau wanted to name her Sara, and I thought Dippy was cute. So, Rod thought of a compromise, and we named her Serendipity, which we think is just perfect for her! She is the sweetest little thing, and so soft!
Even the girls got close enough to pet and love on her!
Beau told his class about her, so when I went in to help with Literacy Centers this morning, the teacher asked me if I could bring Serendipity to school for show and tell! We did and the kids thought that was pretty neat! That's Beau in the white shirt petting her.

We needed some milk replacement to feed our little lamb, and no one in town that I talked to, had any. My last stop was a vet. He told me his uncle lived down the road a ways and had just finished lambing, so was pretty sure he could find a ewe that would let Serendipity nurse. Boy was I glad to hear that! As much as I absolutely loved her, what were we gonna do with a lamb? It was the perfect solution!

So, we waited till Beau got out of school, to say goodbye to her and then dropped her off with the vet. I will call tomorrow to see where she ended up as we would love to visit her! She was so precious and we got really attached in just the 10 hours we had her! She loved being all twisted up like a pretzel!

And the best part? We get to cherish all our fun memories and pictures, without all the added stress of having a baby (farm) animal in our home! Yay! Mommy sure is happy about that! And I told Rod, it was the best anniversary present he's ever given me! But, that said, I sure will miss her and there were more than a couple tears from the kids when we dropped her off. What a special day it turned out to be!
